ONE IS LISTEN

Place: Store Auditorium, IT-Huset, Åbogade 15, Aarhus Universitet.

Public media displays have been neglected by media studies. A giant screen in an urban environment may be an imposing sight, but it hardly merits more than a glance from the passers-by. Why spend time researching and theorizing it?

Andy Warhol Eating Burgers, The Danish Cultural Canon Re-enacted and the History of Italian Hacktivism

A seminar on Copying, Re-enactment and Hacktivism at Entré Scenen in Århus.

It doesn’t make sense to talk about originality in art: any artwork is the result of previous relationships and ideas developed by the artist collaborating with other people in an ongoing process. It is even more complex to discuss originality on the Internet: any file can be reproduced to the infinite with no loss of quality, and every copy is identical to the original. This seminar will focus on methods and ideas of Copying, Re-enactment and Hacktivism within contemporary arts practice. The notion of originality is altered within a contemporary arts practice where the use of references, sampling, re-enactment, copying and hacking is a common phenomena.

  • What happens to copyrights as a phenomenon when artist starts neglecting it?
  • What is the influence of this kind of arts-practice on our perception of cultural identity?
  • What happens with the role of the author, artist and the art works?

Elements Tour 2008

Elements Tour 2008Elements is a series of performances in the domains of audio, incorporating practices of deep listening, field recording techniques, phonography and microphonics; with a particular ear to the elementary sound sources of our sensory world.

In the 2008 version of this performance tour, two sound practitioners from different landscapes, but with a common fascination for discreet environmental sounds, join together to form an onstage presence exploring different types of performance spaces in four different European cities.
